<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Hi Everybody! I hope things are going well for all of you. I got off track posting my dolls when the holidays rolled around. So hopefully I can get back on track now.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEhzJe3-UjSiLxbPYiT43vBC3bx0ICb6j-JMF7aN2316Jw39riODvtC0uO5J78OqCRbSrdLX4DExcTcBlx2HcPlYGUg0O9EcdBl-IrW78pOqThGDaAsclgsgAnPYemhfGhCWaBVkdvphc/s1600/s-l1600+%25282%2529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEhzJe3-UjSiLxbPYiT43vBC3bx0ICb6j-JMF7aN2316Jw39riODvtC0uO5J78OqCRbSrdLX4DExcTcBlx2HcPlYGUg0O9EcdBl-IrW78pOqThGDaAsclgsgAnPYemhfGhCWaBVkdvphc/s320/s-l1600+%25282%2529.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Awhile back, I posted about finally getting one of Gail Wilson's cloth body Hitty dolls. I was thrilled with her. She is such a nice doll, but I decided that I would be happier with one that could stand by herself. So Hitty Fern went to live at another home and a new Gail Wilson Hitty came to live here.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So please meet Hitty Etta. She came to live here in October. What a happy day that was! I am even more thrilled with her because she stands so nicely. It makes playing in the Hitty room box much more fun.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Before she arrived, a tiny Gail Wilson Hitty arrived. This is Hitty Bea. She was adopted from one of my best friends in September. She is a darling little thing and the perfect doll for Hitty Etta. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0Hv6STlTJJ5rdYtDdc2x5q_42vQfzQJr9eWEfAij67YhmquQ1JvtVNLnmoXgz9nH_zL9Nu9_yc41M1jpD8KBIaqMpFESNJPouKSllVQi1PEg2fJ1dP-dNROxq5cBPJMz50mBTwXPI0KE/s1600/IMG_0427.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="932" data-original-width="1600" height="186" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0Hv6STlTJJ5rdYtDdc2x5q_42vQfzQJr9eWEfAij67YhmquQ1JvtVNLnmoXgz9nH_zL9Nu9_yc41M1jpD8KBIaqMpFESNJPouKSllVQi1PEg2fJ1dP-dNROxq5cBPJMz50mBTwXPI0KE/s320/IMG_0427.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
But there's more! See the Raggedy Ann doll Hitty Etta is holding? I just happened to spot her on ebay and knew she was made by Gail Wilson. What a find! Little Raggy Ann arrived here a couple of days before Hitty Etta.<br />
<br />
I didn't expect my little Hitty family to grow so quickly, but everything just seemed to fall into place. <br />
<br />
I have so many blessings in my life. I know dolls are close to the bottom of that list, but I'm thankful for every blessing God so generously gives. Some blessings come to us through trials and difficulties and some come to us through joy.<br />
<br />
Be blessed my friends!<br />

Christmas is almost here! We are finally ready and I hope all of you are as well. What a glorious time of the year. We have so much to be thankful for, especially for the precious babe wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger. The One who came to save us from our sins and bring us to Heaven when the Lord calls us home. Christmas is for celebrating the Birth of Christ.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5A_RXU-BoG2XfEtlic_s7MIg1QcakFh_PLr0jZVXCBZfl5B1vqBzcq5ljfErE10W_4CT_pVPDOsQF1THYQ2XjYS8Cqgoc9ZQL0QYqB83Mz8i-DV-V-VUQP8GC3LTrnQDXP7kujhNakDc/s1600/IMG_0715.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1111" data-original-width="1600" height="222" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5A_RXU-BoG2XfEtlic_s7MIg1QcakFh_PLr0jZVXCBZfl5B1vqBzcq5ljfErE10W_4CT_pVPDOsQF1THYQ2XjYS8Cqgoc9ZQL0QYqB83Mz8i-DV-V-VUQP8GC3LTrnQDXP7kujhNakDc/s320/IMG_0715.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Santa is also welcome in our home, but we know who is more important. Santa gives us another reason to be happy. He is a jolly example of giving from the heart, just as the Three Wise Men brought gifts to Baby Jesus. This is why we also give gifts at Christmas. It would be an amazing thing if every child in every corner of the world could receive gifts and know they are loved. Sadly, there are many who go without even the very necessities of life. Not only children, but people of all ages who need love. Lord, please give all of us a heart that longs to give to others. Let us never forget the gift of You.<br />
<br />

I have enjoyed putting out festive Christmas decorations, as I always do. It seems with every year, I cut back just a little. I love the simple things most.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPAiKvZDZX5LnnZbxgaqUE2LJ77e12c4ILsaFaO0SsDdi8qQVoZID5YDfVRpJ-pP9nEyDa93bAVI0QXdK7g98_1Ryy1fAbzw1B1cIVOjDkII_dE-Ej2IYgeWt2mAsZ480ThvbRevikB6U/s1600/IMG_0720.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="775" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPAiKvZDZX5LnnZbxgaqUE2LJ77e12c4ILsaFaO0SsDdi8qQVoZID5YDfVRpJ-pP9nEyDa93bAVI0QXdK7g98_1Ryy1fAbzw1B1cIVOjDkII_dE-Ej2IYgeWt2mAsZ480ThvbRevikB6U/s320/IMG_0720.JPG" width="155" /></a></div>
And this year, I bought myself a Christmas doll. I normally do not do this, but I saw her and the price was too good to pass up. She is an Izannah Walker Inspired doll made by Shari Lutz. She is very simply made and is not made in the same manner as most Izannah Walker Inspired dolls. In fact, only the face and hair resemble Izannah Walker. Her face painting is like a watercolor portrait. The simplicity of her and the peaceful, serene expression on her face is lovely. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

She is sitting in front of our Christmas tree, waiting for the big day. She arrived December 19th. She reminds me of "Sarah, Plain and Tall" so I have named her Sarah. Have you seen those movies? They are among my favorites.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
I hope all of you enjoy a Beautiful Christmas with your families. May it be Blessed and Merry! And a Happy & Healthy New Year as well.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Happy December! I hope you all had a Blessed Thanksgiving. We did. Anytime family can be together is wonderful. Now we are in the process of getting ready for Christmas. Most of the decorating is done, but there still are gifts to be wrapped, cookies to be baked, candies to be made and lots of holiday fun to be had.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
As we are getting ready for Christmas, so are the dolls. The Izannah girls are the first to be ready.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjr9U20zpB-KB5nflRFlLQ8g0w7R5Nxoqm07L1exf-7vqPo_Fw56MNqO4BZT6BxYJZwfBqno9o-G8Of_0VfKPyCKTcK_x8TYougDVeM7OxA6DNl90oAdIadVDWxV2zrIxN0vlsUevluU7g/s1600/IMG_0687.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="960" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjr9U20zpB-KB5nflRFlLQ8g0w7R5Nxoqm07L1exf-7vqPo_Fw56MNqO4BZT6BxYJZwfBqno9o-G8Of_0VfKPyCKTcK_x8TYougDVeM7OxA6DNl90oAdIadVDWxV2zrIxN0vlsUevluU7g/s320/IMG_0687.JPG" width="191" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Helene got a new dress for Christmas. She is so pleased with it and hopes that she may get more dresses soon. Helene especially loves the holly leaves and berries on the trim.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKPjjtsr-29bPBCiARPhEDcsriS3IvjorYcxW3VvkASzRon5gJqLWz9G_l3wiqvtew5QpP9fBliUlqzti0zN3IX8JA64sev98EJoJmSKK0lxij4Mn6T8ranTd5KD1VqqkI4ylgyEuVw-k/s1600/IMG_0690.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="936" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKPjjtsr-29bPBCiARPhEDcsriS3IvjorYcxW3VvkASzRon5gJqLWz9G_l3wiqvtew5QpP9fBliUlqzti0zN3IX8JA64sev98EJoJmSKK0lxij4Mn6T8ranTd5KD1VqqkI4ylgyEuVw-k/s320/IMG_0690.JPG" width="187" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Tibby also got a new dress for Christmas. She is always happy to get a new dress, as most old fashioned dolls are. Tibby loves the candy stripes on the trim of her dress.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKLpxCoGfU03pGbGUF2mVbJDvarNI6Bax-BcAAyTPTbRlayKAIllTa46PrthurH_dq4stEAI3h9Pn47yAkMerASQRLjsAozaOjCzWpWOoYujJDXLtR111zE7_BzZqzovOD-Q-rdzE_Nb0/s1600/IMG_0692.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1109" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKLpxCoGfU03pGbGUF2mVbJDvarNI6Bax-BcAAyTPTbRlayKAIllTa46PrthurH_dq4stEAI3h9Pn47yAkMerASQRLjsAozaOjCzWpWOoYujJDXLtR111zE7_BzZqzovOD-Q-rdzE_Nb0/s320/IMG_0692.JPG" width="221" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Sybil is wearing her cranberry red Christmas dress, made just for her by her creator, Jan Conwell. Sybil loves that her dress is her favorite color and has long sleeves to help keep her warm. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I think they all look beautiful and ready for this very special season. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
All of this merriment and fun is wonderful, but the most important thing about Christmas is that we remember why we have Christmas. Our Lord God sent His only Son down to earth to live among us. A Son who loves us as much as His Father does and would eventually give His own life to cleanse us of our sins. We are so wonderfully blessed! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Please keep Christ in Christmas. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Blessings to all of you!</div>

It has been a long time since my last post. I apologize for that, but life seems to get busier every day. I hope all of you are happy, well and blessed. I have many blessings to share, but want to start with this one...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

This is Helene. She is a marvelous Izannah Walker Inspired doll made by the very talented Svetlana Lukina in Russia. I saw this sweet doll in her Etsy store and also on her facebook page and fell in love with her. At that time, she was already spoken for. Without going into all the details, this doll became available again and I was very blessed to be able to bring her home. She is amazing! Every tiny detail is perfection! Look at her gorgeous dress and that beautiful bonnet! All handmade by the artist. Even her sweet little leather shoes!<br />
<br />

She is wonderfully painted as well. See her pretty side curls? There are more on the other side and in back. Her face is so precious and her eyes very captivating. She is stunning in every way.<br />

She fits into my home very well too. My home is primitive farmhouse style. I love antiques and well worn things. Helene looks so pretty no matter where I put her. She is beautiful perfection sitting among my old things. They compliment one another, because she is a replica of an antique doll.<br />

Helene arrived here on September 28, 2019. So this will be the day we celebrate her birthday each year. As you can see, she has already been gifted a few special toys. The little rug beater she is holding is very old. A father from long ago made it for his special little girl to play with. I have had it for many years. Now it belongs to Helene.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

She was given the little painted cat on the day she arrived here. And recently the little rug beater. The sheep & willow tree pin-keep is one I made several years ago. The small basket is part of a miniature basket collection my sweet husband gave me for our 10th Anniversary. We celebrated our 38th Anniversary this past June.<br />

Tibby and Sybil have welcomed Helene with open arms, just as I have. I love them all dearly and feel so very blessed to have them.<br />
<br />
I am out of time so I must get busy. Wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving! Take a few moments to count your blessings and you will see just how truly blessed you are.<br />

Until next time, be blessed!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This is Grace, made by artist Rebecca Kerin. I have posted about her before, as her hair was damaged when I got her. I made paper clay hair for her. It was better than nothing, but I always wanted to try again and see if I could improve on it. Just for reference, the photo below is my first attempt.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEieSDVoL6B457LoHn6ZM-8mLpo7r3-jQUf-rH40YYVPK9SLz5iATp3IRXncs1jG7i1HAF7yNM8mNCsSCYPfroRYpXQ7NKwLnaIJduTOtAiuHptLbKSv_S2ldXXydFjAhwJERrFjpIkyhIM/s1600/P5060003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1186" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEieSDVoL6B457LoHn6ZM-8mLpo7r3-jQUf-rH40YYVPK9SLz5iATp3IRXncs1jG7i1HAF7yNM8mNCsSCYPfroRYpXQ7NKwLnaIJduTOtAiuHptLbKSv_S2ldXXydFjAhwJERrFjpIkyhIM/s320/P5060003.JPG" width="237" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
If you look closely at the first photo at the top, I hope you can see the differences. It took me two more times to make it better. Part of the problem was that the first time I did it, the material was too thin and shapeless. I knew that had to be changed. It was a lot of work and a lot of drying and curing time, but I think it was well worth it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The next photos show more of the layering and work done. I'm so pleased with how it turned out. I think Grace is pleased too. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I tried to keep the same hair color as before, but changed the style a little bit. Another change is the material I used. The first hair was made of creative paper clay. This time I used apoxie sculpt. </div>

I think those little tendrils in the front add so much charm to the overall appearance of her new hair, if I do say so myself. Grace is one of my most favorite dolls, especially being a big fan of Rebecca Kerin too. </div>

Sybil has been here for two years already! Time is flying right by us. For her birthday, I bought her a sweet dress. I bought Tibby one from the same maker a couple of weeks ago. When I saw this dress I knew Sybil had to have it because the trim is the same fabric as Tibby's dress. <br />
<br />

I knew you would want to see Tibby's dress too. It's hard to tell in my pics because the pink gingham is a small scale. I love them both! <br />
<br />
Sybil has been getting all of my attention today, as it should be. Even the weather was nice today, and that was a gift to all of us around here. <br />
<br />
Enjoy the rest of your day and be blessed!Dolly Blessingshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04069672118561454644noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2849709465049522731.post-42745597078703718102019-07-17T05:55:00.002-07:002019-07-17T05:55:18.678-07:00Tibby<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

This lovely doll is Tibby, a handmade Izannah Inspired doll by Jan Conwell. The photo is several years old. I got Tibby back in May of 2014. I bought her from a sweet friend and kept her almost three years. At that time, I had so much "stuff" that I felt the need to downsize, and Tibby was adopted by the very same friend that I bought her from.<br />

A few weeks ago, I saw on her blog that she is now downsizing and had Tibby up for adoption. I was so happy to have a chance to get her back. I'm thrilled to have her home with me again! Tibby was made by the same artist (Jan Conwell) who made Sybil, so they are real sisters. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxYk6o9QtWuUqjf1yCjkkG7P3dnwLjtHCSAtZ-oovJbxSQi759i0oJ9xs07-I1vtm_CeC2WVUXLDbGtEveJs_ZDMDPUxFFqFnYRjdh-Fph_HtqhNAwDZOrhy3pgVBlifaTTRfmhY7z1F4/s1600/IMG_9693.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1137" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxYk6o9QtWuUqjf1yCjkkG7P3dnwLjtHCSAtZ-oovJbxSQi759i0oJ9xs07-I1vtm_CeC2WVUXLDbGtEveJs_ZDMDPUxFFqFnYRjdh-Fph_HtqhNAwDZOrhy3pgVBlifaTTRfmhY7z1F4/s320/IMG_9693.JPG" width="227" /></a></div>
Since she has been home, the sisters have gotten to know each other. It has been so much fun to play with them. I have bought Tibby a few new dresses because she has only had one her entire life, that I'm aware of. When I commissioned Sybil, I asked the artist to make her a seasonal wardrobe. She did an amazing job on the doll and the dresses. So now I'd like for Tibby to have a seasonal wardrobe as well. I think she deserves to be spoiled. The dress in the photo above would make a lovely Spring dress, but it will work for Summer too, for now.<br />

Tibby is 21 inches tall, where Sybil is 18 inches. Tibby is also a "Barefoot Izannah" doll, where Sybil has painted on boots. Tibby's eyes are brown and Sybil's are blue. So lots of subtle differences, but both beautiful girls.<br />

<br />
I am still working on introducing my dolls. This is Hitty Fern by Gail Wilson. I have wanted one of these dolls for a very long time. Earlier this year, I finally got one. I have been enjoying her so much. I have some other Hitty dolls that are very precious to me as well. I got her for a great price and she came wearing my favorite "tea dress" and pink coral bead necklace. She is signed and dated by Gail on the back of her neck. She is one of her older ones, which makes her more dear to me.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh02yNQPisdUP0yANi-9ot-DDmkqIE6RjKYX4YQo6uDNIlG_bTcdeIkaPJQNgtCT6FkSSjtEA8ieJ0_v9l2xHEu1eCQKcSbIA__f862-ryXMdSOJIIPVAVGq7CWoJkESLCZsAOXHemBEcA/s1600/IMG_9408.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="652" data-original-width="1600" height="130" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh02yNQPisdUP0yANi-9ot-DDmkqIE6RjKYX4YQo6uDNIlG_bTcdeIkaPJQNgtCT6FkSSjtEA8ieJ0_v9l2xHEu1eCQKcSbIA__f862-ryXMdSOJIIPVAVGq7CWoJkESLCZsAOXHemBEcA/s320/IMG_9408.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
She inspired me to do something I have always wanted to do. I actually love primitive things and have always wanted to paint a mural in my house. But it's a scary thing to paint something so big, so I never did it. But Hitty Fern could have one. <br />
<br />
I searched for a wooden box to turn into a room for her but never found what I wanted. So hubby said I should just make it myself. So I did! I think I even surprised him by actually doing it. I went to Home Depot and bought a 12 foot by 12 inch by 1 inch board and had them cut the pieces to size for me. I sanded them that same evening and the next day, stained the outside of the pieces. Then I painted a mural on the back wall. I'm not an artist by any means but it turned out just like I wanted. Then I put it together.<br />
<br />
A couple of weeks ago, I covered the plain pine board floor with real miniature hardwood. It was so fun to do and turned out pretty good. I even added baseboards with the leftover pieces. It definitely gives the room a more finished look.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYEL58ZxTf-1nd7-XUMFCuN88YgOKIeuvOuUiGpwwuAQ7cb5WD2MCXhRWOJ1niFeu7UsFFukXHnBNHkPw72moFkik0p05rp2tPDwFnw5UnY7DkTc9p90Oyao9VutIb65kAZ0zyg7tfCcI/s1600/IMG_8909.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1283" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYEL58ZxTf-1nd7-XUMFCuN88YgOKIeuvOuUiGpwwuAQ7cb5WD2MCXhRWOJ1niFeu7UsFFukXHnBNHkPw72moFkik0p05rp2tPDwFnw5UnY7DkTc9p90Oyao9VutIb65kAZ0zyg7tfCcI/s320/IMG_8909.JPG" width="256" /></a></div>
Then I decided I wanted to make some of the kits Gail Wilson makes for her Hitty dolls. I'm not really a builder of things, but I figured if I could make and paint the room, I could do a few of the kits. The first one I made was the peg rack shelf. I already had the dress form and a friend sold me some of her GW Hitty stuff that she was no longer using. The sewing kit items are on top of the peg rack shelf.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlCDzaqLOpM0O7SZRKUxoLkBnakR0lQP876lHW-InILOMVZQ7gXF4QWjSuwdE0VEXeedanzqF7ZRPjFx_Jcb5y5Sk1Hjwe3ekPbSqvV-wHnCf1sMGeC5K6qJ1nfj6ujNHjyy0smQlS4is/s1600/IMG_8993.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1068" data-original-width="1600" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlCDzaqLOpM0O7SZRKUxoLkBnakR0lQP876lHW-InILOMVZQ7gXF4QWjSuwdE0VEXeedanzqF7ZRPjFx_Jcb5y5Sk1Hjwe3ekPbSqvV-wHnCf1sMGeC5K6qJ1nfj6ujNHjyy0smQlS4is/s320/IMG_8993.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I had a few other things that I made from GW's kits. I made the little peg doll, her pouting chair and rope bed. It came with a tiny quilt kit, but I put it away and have not found it again! LOL! The rug under the table was also from my friend as well as the splay leg chair by the wall. The table and chairs were made by me. I enjoyed making them for the most part, but I admit the chairs were hard. I am so glad I didn't give up.<br />

Every little girl needs a table for having tea parties. The tiny tea set and candle stick with candle are very tiny miniatures made by Blue Moon Pottery. The teapot is the size of a penny! I was so surprised that they were so tiny when I got them. And they are actually made of real pottery. I have no idea how they did this, but they are precious little things. The table topper was in the kit with the table. I decided to make it before I misplaced it like I did the little quilt.<br />
<br />

The table and chairs come in handy when Hitty Fern wants to play with her Hitty paper doll. Those tiny scissors are from the sewing set and they really work!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
Of course a desk is also needed for homework, letter writing, journal entries and Bible reading. The little chair from my friend is the perfect desk chair. The lid lifts up on the desk for storage. This was a fun piece to build. The desk kit did not come with the ledge at the bottom of the lift up lid, so I made one and attached it myself. It keeps things from sliding off.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Every girl also needs a comfy bed and a place to put her lamp and favorite books. The bed and small bookcase are not by GW. I found them online, as well as the bedside rug. I already had the little lantern. The quilt above the bed is part of the sewing set. The ABC print is another online find, as well as the clock and Home Sweet Home sign. The tiny printed cat is from GW. It is so darling! The tiny train was gift from the friend I bought the other items from. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
On the other side of the room is a hutch for storing other things. I have had this piece for several years. On top, she displays her sweet Hitty paper doll and box of dresses and an abacus to help her with her arithmetic lessons. You can see the little peg doll sitting in her pouting chair and her little rope bed. The rug hanging above the desk is another online find. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So now you can see her entire room. I have her dresses stored in a box just for her. I may decide to display them later on. I am trying not to over crowd the room. The clock caught the flash and I didn't realize it until later. Sorry about that. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm very happy about this dolly project. I have this sitting on the top of my desk, so I can enjoy it every day. I hope you all have enjoyed seeing it. I can't help but smile and sometimes I wish I was small enough to go in there and play too!</div>

I got busy and missed a week posting the next doll. Sorry about that. The next doll on the list of newcomers is Winnie.<br />
<br />
Winnie is a Schoenhut model 14/105. She is fourteen inches tall and jointed at the neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees and ankles. She is made of wood and has metal springs in her joints to make her posable. She is a carved haired doll. She is an early model likely made between 1911-1912. That makes her around 108 years old.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
She was in bad shape when I got her. I decided to try to fix her up a little instead of fully restoring her. I wanted most of her genuine age to show. It was a fun project, but work too. I'm happy with the results and I think Winnie is too. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
She has a happy look instead of pensive or sad. I really like this about her. I named her Winnie as soon as she arrived here. Not sure why, other than liking the name and it seemed to fit.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
A few weeks later, I remembered that I had this tiny artist made Winnie the Pooh bear. I took him from the cabinet and gave him to Winnie. Are they not perfect together? I have been in love with Winnie the Pooh since I was big enough to watch tv. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I will try to make time to keep posting at least once a week. I have a few more dolls to introduce and some projects to show.</div>

I love antique dolls, especially papier mache head dolls. I'm not alone in this. Finding a nice one is not easy, and the competition for them is tough. One day I was browsing ebay and saw one of the reproduction Greiner Papier Mache Head dolls made by the United States Post Office. I looked at them years ago, but at that time they were on the expensive side.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSrYcaehg50PKUxPOb9icJn-8pj4PUql5CdZ3_op5SjsP0O7McMDrRFM1YEKlwBsft0Vj23ecJRlo8qn_qe9pWDTKInS8I__JpzYzd1Ng2b-KwfCk_HUn3SL-2begpAnHB32gOa-evJeA/s1600/s-l1600+-+Copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1013" data-original-width="909" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSrYcaehg50PKUxPOb9icJn-8pj4PUql5CdZ3_op5SjsP0O7McMDrRFM1YEKlwBsft0Vj23ecJRlo8qn_qe9pWDTKInS8I__JpzYzd1Ng2b-KwfCk_HUn3SL-2begpAnHB32gOa-evJeA/s320/s-l1600+-+Copy.jpg" width="287" /></a></div>
So when I found one for a good price on ebay, I decided to get it and see if I liked it in person. She arrived and honestly, I think she is pretty nice. One thing that was a disappointment is what looked like a reflection of light in one of her eyes was actually a scratch. So I took a few minutes to get out my paints and mixed up a color as close to the eye color as possible and repainted that eye. I think I did okay with it.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNqYAC57nyomUUlpNFa0yALqADu1Fx7UaOPEHv4gHa_6Jix6jp-KSlgmkECBR7wy6jK2K7-cjtG4Wshxo5VQc11g5h5tRYQ_wzY7LYHWa9JJttXh0jvIiJqAMW_y3No8MoNQsLK0fwpRk/s1600/IMG_8302.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1266" data-original-width="1600" height="253" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNqYAC57nyomUUlpNFa0yALqADu1Fx7UaOPEHv4gHa_6Jix6jp-KSlgmkECBR7wy6jK2K7-cjtG4Wshxo5VQc11g5h5tRYQ_wzY7LYHWa9JJttXh0jvIiJqAMW_y3No8MoNQsLK0fwpRk/s320/IMG_8302.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
The second photo shows the scratched eye and the third photo shows the eye after I repainted it. I really like this doll, even thought she is quite large. Her complexion was borderline pasty white, so while I had my paints out, I did a faux aging technique to her face. It seemed to make her more realistic. I was very pleased with the results. Her eyelash area had some slight denting, so she looks as if she has been played with long ago. The aging technique enhances this. It may be hard to tell much difference in the photos because of the flash, but in person, you can see the difference very well.<br />

The photos above show some of the details about these dolls. The papier mache head was made from the same papier mache recipe Ludwig Greiner used many years ago. The head and body are both marked well, showing that she is a reproduction. She is all cloth, other than the papier mache head. She has a beautiful outfit but the shoes are a little cheap looking. So I took a pair of well-worn genuine antique baby shoes and a pair of black socks and put them on her. They are just a smidge too big, but look perfect on her.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJAORJD-TepcPjm4EMByhDWOkTbIx0xqno0Tz5FJmJ6u-OVqpWYHanwLUPx40mvMmE120QlC6-fRyfSaFdYOVz6GXmGRg9MOMXbmk7LZADDuDlWzvbuAbkQYmbsn3IcFtPgXiftT1Q5QU/s1600/IMG_8301.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1097" data-original-width="1600" height="219" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJAORJD-TepcPjm4EMByhDWOkTbIx0xqno0Tz5FJmJ6u-OVqpWYHanwLUPx40mvMmE120QlC6-fRyfSaFdYOVz6GXmGRg9MOMXbmk7LZADDuDlWzvbuAbkQYmbsn3IcFtPgXiftT1Q5QU/s320/IMG_8301.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I named her Hannah and put her in an adult size antique chair in my living room.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpSpLz2da-0J5QlVcI740BWZNwW9gvlbTIqxeeCAULX2x7lpd-SEPFkpV_BKUIEi7DhX4uQijCNMNoFgGgJ7VuBUapRbMny9R7ExHc6ubbk8ddSWpJ_tGFuqGAENvTrHvYCfQLeuM2e1Q/s1600/IMG_8298.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1238" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpSpLz2da-0J5QlVcI740BWZNwW9gvlbTIqxeeCAULX2x7lpd-SEPFkpV_BKUIEi7DhX4uQijCNMNoFgGgJ7VuBUapRbMny9R7ExHc6ubbk8ddSWpJ_tGFuqGAENvTrHvYCfQLeuM2e1Q/s320/IMG_8298.JPG" width="247" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Did I mention that she is 30 inches tall? I never buy big dolls because of the lack of space, but I made an exception for Hannah. The chair she sits in has been a place for various teddy bears to sit in over the years. Since bears can sit in lots of places and fit in smaller chairs, this one belongs to Hannah now. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I smile every time I walk into our living room. I hope you enjoyed seeing her and hearing about her.</div>

This wonderful all cloth doll is a faithful reproduction of a Photo Face Babyland Rag doll. She was made by artist Glenda Smith who made her by looking at an antique Babyland doll that she owns. She did not want to copy the faces of genuine antique Babyland dolls. Her photo face was printed from an antique photo in the artist's collection and applied to the doll in the same way Babyland Rag dolls were made. <br />

Junie is 20 inches tall and is completely made by the artist, all except purchased shoes. Her clothes and undergarments were made from antique and vintage fabrics. Her bonnet is sewn onto the doll and the front rim can be pulled forward or folded back, but cannot be removed from the doll.<br />

Photos do not do her justice at all. She is an amazing work of art and I am very happy to have her. She is one-of-a-kind. There will never be another one exactly like her. The artist mentioned that she may make others, but so far I have not seen or heard of her doing this as of yet. I hope she will. She said no two would ever be a like. If I hear from her about this, I will be sure to update. <br />

Junie has a very life-like look, thanks to her lovely photo face. Some people are bothered by this, but I think she is amazing! <br />
<br />
Do any of you have a genuine Babyland Rag doll? Would love to her about them, if you do. <br />
<br />
Well, I have errands to run, so I best get to it. Have a blessed day everybody!<br />

Hello again! I didn't have any trouble remembering to make a post this week. Maybe this is a good way to keep blogging. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I have a wonderful friend named Barb, who is always surprising me with such sweet things. Hitty Erin is one of them. Isn't she wonderful? <br />
<br />
She bought a blank Hitty doll and painted her for me. She knows how much I love blue-eyed redheads, so that's how she painted this sweet little doll. She even sent her in this pretty dress.<br />
<br />
I ordered her a real turquoise necklace for her because all of my Hitty dolls have them (except for the tiny ones). So far, all of them have different colored beads. Now I guess the tiny ones will have to have their own beads too. <br />
<br />
This doll is a little treasure and I love her, but not nearly as much as I love my dear friend.<br />
<br />
Wishing a wonderful, happy week to everybody. <br />
Blessings to all of you! Dolly Blessingshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04069672118561454644noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2849709465049522731.post-34108546826917645882019-05-03T12:52:00.003-07:002019-05-03T12:52:39.671-07:00Sweet Little Zoe<br />

Wow, Friday got here very fast! And it has been such a busy week that I almost forgot my promise to introduce all the new dolls, but not on purpose. <br />
<br />
Zoe is the next in line. It's hard to believe she has been here almost a year already. She is a wonderful Waldorf inspired doll made by Jenny Marshall of Little Jenny Wren in Australia. She is 15 inches tall and has slightly curly platinum blonde mohair hair. She has blue eyes and an adorable little face. She fits in perfectly here.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMemlG4UgHWuuUa7Jjjn30Sa5Qnmrk4E7yf_QIgGKC1byj9NelHFLC-dIOFbLrYEUldHl9MgJk4fegOxhPG5m8sfomI7PGsgWhM7piTdHNkohNs6PCRIjx0ShbMMNo136O_AQcjWQcx-Y/s1600/P6070007.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1377" data-original-width="1600" height="275" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMemlG4UgHWuuUa7Jjjn30Sa5Qnmrk4E7yf_QIgGKC1byj9NelHFLC-dIOFbLrYEUldHl9MgJk4fegOxhPG5m8sfomI7PGsgWhM7piTdHNkohNs6PCRIjx0ShbMMNo136O_AQcjWQcx-Y/s320/P6070007.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Just look at that sweet face! She made a best friend as soon as she arrived. Her best friend has lived here quite awhile and was made by the same dolly maker. It's none other than Matilde!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQ4rQ1I6vymQ-0TJ9Wdg-_If9B00Zg0YE5GNrxaf_wdYTSkXgdimBhjH17pKM8b3FM0EfQLKjX14TDGiPwAbrZmbcEsSMqNbzVNGakSaZrwoibYCAXr7s9B9boQhFbw-ZzGX_CBYjPqXw/s1600/P6070005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQ4rQ1I6vymQ-0TJ9Wdg-_If9B00Zg0YE5GNrxaf_wdYTSkXgdimBhjH17pKM8b3FM0EfQLKjX14TDGiPwAbrZmbcEsSMqNbzVNGakSaZrwoibYCAXr7s9B9boQhFbw-ZzGX_CBYjPqXw/s320/P6070005.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
And speaking of Matilde, she went back to Australia to visit Little Jenny Wren and get new hair. She was just ready for a change. And what a lovely change it is.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzSgIptQVDdT_a8iccaVq_mhtZBNPs3eb95-e-d7N0p6X64XTkGfL4jTpMQypRGE8wnjHxxnsfk3UFaV67v4-UAoGMKBl2hcmmov902hHYehEMYLGWSSQt8Lna_TCSxexKtYkxxii9qTU/s1600/PB050003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1340" data-original-width="1373" height="312" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzSgIptQVDdT_a8iccaVq_mhtZBNPs3eb95-e-d7N0p6X64XTkGfL4jTpMQypRGE8wnjHxxnsfk3UFaV67v4-UAoGMKBl2hcmmov902hHYehEMYLGWSSQt8Lna_TCSxexKtYkxxii9qTU/s320/PB050003.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I think my Little Jenny Wren dolls are two of the sweetest ever made. I might be just a smidge partial. <br />
<br />
I hope everyone is doing well. Until next time.....be blessed!Dolly Blessingshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04069672118561454644noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2849709465049522731.post-21189700404451219872019-04-26T06:12:00.000-07:002019-04-26T06:12:22.202-07:00Hopefully Catching Up & GraceHello out there in blogland! Wow, it has been a very long time since I last posted anything here. My apologies! Life can sometimes be very demanding and keep us busy. That's my only excuse. I hope to catch up and introduce dolls that have come home to me since my last post. So here goes....<br />
<br />
I will try to blog about a new doll every week until I have posted about all of them.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6rbLhJD7XqXLEqoi42V2prKp_8ZEzW4NLGnGp418E9p1Tf1llYk7js7uow0Pr9HAauqHC2RyquYOWE8uybKm8k7YxIO7-4oMgiWfnQYH8femimTzXUxn8RI1ryXG-hvf2XgnX7p4NHog/s1600/P5120007.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1341" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6rbLhJD7XqXLEqoi42V2prKp_8ZEzW4NLGnGp418E9p1Tf1llYk7js7uow0Pr9HAauqHC2RyquYOWE8uybKm8k7YxIO7-4oMgiWfnQYH8femimTzXUxn8RI1ryXG-hvf2XgnX7p4NHog/s320/P5120007.JPG" width="268" /></a></div>
Today I will blog about Grace. Grace was made by artist Rebecca Kerin. I bought her from someone on Ebay. I thought she was just so beautiful and serene. She is 21 inches tall. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqhVrDocrdVwX-VWb2irSEe9pW37Bg254wVn7gWxPWmug6biQTQnfJ2_u8Nmwho0jWJz3KuCYH-aMDi6VQciWsc86RjB_WWEJ7FFJdrVFm_tVm0B_KO1f4FkkCv_ogomeyfBrm2Rjj3mg/s1600/DSCN2930.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="781" data-original-width="524" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqhVrDocrdVwX-VWb2irSEe9pW37Bg254wVn7gWxPWmug6biQTQnfJ2_u8Nmwho0jWJz3KuCYH-aMDi6VQciWsc86RjB_WWEJ7FFJdrVFm_tVm0B_KO1f4FkkCv_ogomeyfBrm2Rjj3mg/s320/DSCN2930.JPG" width="214" /></a></div>
The above photo is from the listing, but all was not quite as it appeared. I'm not 100% positive, but I think the photo is an original photo from the artist when she was brand new and it was used in the listing. She had hair made from 150 year old antique flax. I thought that was really neat. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAbESqIt_ZnYKGbVBR_dGHQvCoA3Wqpoaiwjrd7slCbxFDnGpJXlX1EjR-XivK8yfgwAWPSg1QGccDFso5zhBWJRt4IpZuUKeW75AqUcIUSQIhm9gEU-qibrI2Q8uZb-2L_9gXI1KiTxM/s1600/s-l1600+%25283%2529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAbESqIt_ZnYKGbVBR_dGHQvCoA3Wqpoaiwjrd7slCbxFDnGpJXlX1EjR-XivK8yfgwAWPSg1QGccDFso5zhBWJRt4IpZuUKeW75AqUcIUSQIhm9gEU-qibrI2Q8uZb-2L_9gXI1KiTxM/s320/s-l1600+%25283%2529.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
But when Grace got home, her hair was in bad shape. I messaged the artist about replacing it for me, but unfortunately, she was not interested in doing it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiE4_NYCTT2KK7HiOa8HOdplal_k0VPP_EkN0j-Ez5q-hFsPVBjlivav1OZn1Exu37k6G1UOC8LnawC-wpfSNFuaD8bGSzLb4OOL3HC7Ig066VLGxqPABmaC1gQBDBJbOyzt8quCNApBXM/s1600/P5050001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1467" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiE4_NYCTT2KK7HiOa8HOdplal_k0VPP_EkN0j-Ez5q-hFsPVBjlivav1OZn1Exu37k6G1UOC8LnawC-wpfSNFuaD8bGSzLb4OOL3HC7Ig066VLGxqPABmaC1gQBDBJbOyzt8quCNApBXM/s320/P5050001.JPG" width="293" /></a></div>
Having no other choice, I combed her hair out and removed as much of the loose "hairs" as possible. The above photo shows how it looked after I did this. I had hoped the problem was solved, but unfortunately, every time I picked up the doll, more fibers kept falling out everywhere. So I took matters in my own hands and made her new hair from paper clay.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj739XHVmy7qrtVq0lvg_KsVgGhd6pDzfYDwKfH-jHS8WIC4GIDPcieIRnNTn9ctQNSzgh9qFiLgHuyokhz9dt_AAgQjYoP-sJp30W8RcZ-gfSRJy32fGCKoxXP48oLM1OOruHJsyC3D3c/s1600/P5060003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1186" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj739XHVmy7qrtVq0lvg_KsVgGhd6pDzfYDwKfH-jHS8WIC4GIDPcieIRnNTn9ctQNSzgh9qFiLgHuyokhz9dt_AAgQjYoP-sJp30W8RcZ-gfSRJy32fGCKoxXP48oLM1OOruHJsyC3D3c/s320/P5060003.JPG" width="237" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I chose a very simple style, similar to an Izannah Walker doll. It looks painted on, but is actually sculpted paper clay that has been painted. I have done similar things to a couple of smaller dolls, but this was the first time making hair for a large doll. I did not do a perfect job, but I still love her. I may try again one of these days just to see if I can improve on it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Grace is a beautiful doll and her original dress is wonderful (seen in the first six photos). It's made from antique blue calico and has another antique fabric in red for the trim. She has been with me over a year now, and I have had some dresses and pinafores made especially for her. I altered a large doll bonnet to fit her. Her new dresses and pinafores were made by an Etsy seamstress.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuzLiGggPNsjpTxNjC3J3USVp9q76x6B7gvtN49_jYFbDk3VL6K8Wy0ihofkWZPn4HimwPW6tR2qT-a6SS0xvA5iOolfkGroihNR4qaS5cGsgPN6TIMfZgE-8WfzKpSlUi1hZvwO-yg3w/s1600/s-l1600+%25282%2529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuzLiGggPNsjpTxNjC3J3USVp9q76x6B7gvtN49_jYFbDk3VL6K8Wy0ihofkWZPn4HimwPW6tR2qT-a6SS0xvA5iOolfkGroihNR4qaS5cGsgPN6TIMfZgE-8WfzKpSlUi1hZvwO-yg3w/s320/s-l1600+%25282%2529.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
Last, but not least, just look at her adorable shoes and striped stockings! I adore them, as well as her antique undergarments. The artist is truly a master at her craft. Even after the problems with the original hair, she is very special to me.<br />
<br />
I hope you all are happy and well. I will try my best to keep posting once a week until I finish introducing all the new girls. <br />
<br />
Until next time, be blessed!<br />

So this day will be considered her birthday.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SYBIL!"</div>
<br />
Sybil is such a practical girl All she wanted for her birthday was a nice apron. So she got a pretty white apron and one made of blue chambray. She likes them both.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It's funny how the white one makes her look older and the blue one makes her look more child-like. she says she will wear the blue one when cleaning or playing. That's a good idea. Save the white one for helping to serve Sunday dinner. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Sybil is getting all my attention today. I still take such joy in her. She is a marvel, made by a wonderful artist, who I admire. This figure of cloth and clay is loved and treasured and always will be. She is one of my sweetest dolly blessings. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Blessings to all of you!</div>

Wow, it has been such a long time since I last posted here. Sorry about that! Time is flying by, especially when you are busy. I hope you all are happy and blessed.<br />

I have made quite a few changes this year. I didn't make any resolutions but made some goals instead. No rules, just some things I wanted to do. Lots of dolls have come and gone along the way. I have tried some new ones and went back to some old ones. But the ones who always seem to stay here are the ones dearest to me. So it's all good!<br />
<br />
This post is all about Sybil, my Izannah Walker Inspired doll that I commissioned last year. She arrived July 24, 2017. She has been here almost a year already! I truly love this doll. She is everything I ever wanted in a doll. I love the subtle aging that really enhances her beauty. I still marvel at how wonderfully made she is and how special each dress is made....all hand sewn, even the button holes! I commissioned her to have a dress for each season and I hope to add to that someday.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgts3EmwnmYZtRKTYt2yhrWD0e55goqIowgtRUYPDs8iGrsJES_RdWWlDw2V5IJvQDHl6L-rSfyUw1F2ecFWxwF8BwobtbzSyRRZsggS83hYjlNRVoPPk8Mzh_MDjVM8kOskYEdR0SlBoU/s1600/P4200024.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1173" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgts3EmwnmYZtRKTYt2yhrWD0e55goqIowgtRUYPDs8iGrsJES_RdWWlDw2V5IJvQDHl6L-rSfyUw1F2ecFWxwF8BwobtbzSyRRZsggS83hYjlNRVoPPk8Mzh_MDjVM8kOskYEdR0SlBoU/s320/P4200024.JPG" width="234" /></a> </div>
This is the first time Sybil has worn her Spring dress. And what a lovely dress it is! She asked permission to show the decorative hem inside. It matches the trim at the neckline, waist and sleeves. Isn't it a nice touch? <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTremQJ3WMHOKPtE8mfiWLJW2rOXS8YnwY_v-HxttE4MI8UUPEAeap3oTYLbfPJ0mbhGn4o4iA7wrnRiMp4RCQfXQM90h4Y_duygEexGJu2jv09x7N3WmUTA1xj-z6RRQU5Z7vdKppzVE/s1600/P4200018.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1212" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTremQJ3WMHOKPtE8mfiWLJW2rOXS8YnwY_v-HxttE4MI8UUPEAeap3oTYLbfPJ0mbhGn4o4iA7wrnRiMp4RCQfXQM90h4Y_duygEexGJu2jv09x7N3WmUTA1xj-z6RRQU5Z7vdKppzVE/s320/P4200018.JPG" width="242" /></a></div>
Even though it is Spring here and we have had some warmer weather, we have also had several cold snaps. Sybil is happy to have a nice hand-knitted shawl on those chilly mornings and evenings.<br />

Have you met Sybils' doll? Her name is Hitty Sue. Of course she wanted a Spring dress as well, so I had to find her one. Sybil is so pleased.<br />

I'm glad to finally do a little photo shoot of this sweet girl. She is one of those little blessings that your heart desires, but you really do not believe it will happen until it really does. It took lots of planning and lots of saving and she was worth it!</div>

Sorry it has been so long since I last posted here. This is a busy time of year for most of us. I can hardly believe that Christmas Day is only one week away. <br />
<br />
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Our's was especially nice. I always look at Thanksgiving as the beginning of Christmas. We always put our tree up on the first Saturday after Thanksgiving. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7iJGf0voxCY0IWaTRWEITzW-Eghby790R7y4Gc5A0CMPGhQ9YLr4sisWoc0PBt4at4rHIq1ParTfC5J1HRIP-L5I3Wk_Bbpg2cthTeQtVt56xRa7WFle58Umt8itEhYkXyQK0bIjruAU/s1600/PB250003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1040" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7iJGf0voxCY0IWaTRWEITzW-Eghby790R7y4Gc5A0CMPGhQ9YLr4sisWoc0PBt4at4rHIq1ParTfC5J1HRIP-L5I3Wk_Bbpg2cthTeQtVt56xRa7WFle58Umt8itEhYkXyQK0bIjruAU/s320/PB250003.JPG" width="207" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We bought a new slim tree this year because our older one was just falling apart. It's a little taller than the old one, but looks very similar. I do believe the quality of this one is a bit better too. I opted to use a quilt for the skirt this year instead of a coverlet. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Due to time restraints and family coming and going, I decided to have Doll's Christmas early while I had time to enjoy it. All of the dolls got wallpaper for their "shelf rooms." I'm so glad to finally get this done. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqa3Q2hA7ePWQdop1ZstUuuWJyF8H20SAr4ribp7sbIsCMOHmabcOwRWsI44JHmuJAG2vemwVtrLpjwEiMwF9TrioT5gv61CQ4T2iEwm1-90xssLyVqAg6DO6EWW4GeNH7U7I2eitr3jQ/s1600/PC090004.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="896" data-original-width="1600" height="179" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqa3Q2hA7ePWQdop1ZstUuuWJyF8H20SAr4ribp7sbIsCMOHmabcOwRWsI44JHmuJAG2vemwVtrLpjwEiMwF9TrioT5gv61CQ4T2iEwm1-90xssLyVqAg6DO6EWW4GeNH7U7I2eitr3jQ/s320/PC090004.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Sybil's room is small considering her height, but she doesn't mind sitting to play and read. Maybe one day she will have a big enough room to stand up in. Sybil got a lovely ivory hand knitted shawl and an abacus to help her with her schooling. As you can see from her room she already has plenty of toys. She is also wearing her Christmas/Winter dress. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggEG4Exn-yetFN0URFTVBeDJQJ7kxXCAapQtCGKnxO1xcHtCsUmbKOtWNA9wQeN2kLIaZPxMlDSHapfvERPZcvY2keI0hZfMjSKqFa2DgKCS-IjFDFeA51s-DgxEvPvA5UUM9uVU-_u0o/s1600/PC160003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1131" data-original-width="1600" height="226" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggEG4Exn-yetFN0URFTVBeDJQJ7kxXCAapQtCGKnxO1xcHtCsUmbKOtWNA9wQeN2kLIaZPxMlDSHapfvERPZcvY2keI0hZfMjSKqFa2DgKCS-IjFDFeA51s-DgxEvPvA5UUM9uVU-_u0o/s320/PC160003.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Hitty Jane wanted a new dress form and this Christmas she finally got one. This one was made from a Gail Wilson kit. I found it on ebay already made and snagged it for her. The photo is misleading because it looks too big for her, but it is indeed her size. This dress form matches the one Hattie has.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
For those who may not remember, this is Hattie. I made her from a Gail Wilson Joel Ellis Doll Kit. I did everything, except Gail painted the head for me. One of the hardest crafty things I have ever done, but so worth it. I was smart enough to order her a ready made dress and dress form when I ordered the kit. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And last, but not least, Pia & Lexie are getting ready for Christmas. They are wearing dresses made for Effanbee Patsy. I got a Patsy Joan awhile back but decided not to keep her, but I saved the dresses because I like them so much. These little ones continue to make me smile every day.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I will try to come back after New Years Day to show the other doll rooms. Time is short today and I have lots to get done every day this week. </div>

Wishing you all Christmas Blessings and a very Happy New Year! </div>

I mentioned a few posts back about falling in love with the Wichtel dolls (pronounced "Wish-Tell"). I introduced Lexie, a doll made by Schildkrot for Rosemarie Muller, the creator of these dolls. She is the little redhead that I changed the eyes and wig on. She was the only one I planned to keep after buying three in a very short period. It was just too much, too fast. The first one I sold, practically flew out the door!<br />
<br />
Anyway, the doll above is Pia, an original handmade Wichtel doll made by Rosemarie Muller and her husband. I love her joyous face, but had decided to let her move on. She was the most expensive and I really only needed one. Well.....try as I might, her ebay listings had watchers, but no one bought her. After several weeks of trying to find her a new home, I just decided to take her out of her box, just to make sure she was still okay in there.<br />
<br />
Then I had an idea! I decided to change her wig. I liked her brown hair, but I thought maybe a change would be good. So I tried a pale blonde wig I already had on her. The light color brightened up her face and highlighted her eyes so much! The wig did not exactly fit, so I found one I liked and ordered it. When it arrived, I was very disappointed because the bangs looked like someone had chopped them. But I decided to try it on for size, and to my amazement, it was PERFECT for her, chopped bangs and all!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSmWojsWpGa7hDD8QGZMVHj5KHF65N59JpKZy1kWPhYEC99dcx1bK_6IqAFs8OzPeky1G8R5QeHsYhoWlhcs2q_RkpK_lOXairNY_hfUDZi2bGiN3BaKyg8IGfrDRdNnWjEluOa1AM6Fg/s1600/P8170004.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1559" data-original-width="1600" height="311" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSmWojsWpGa7hDD8QGZMVHj5KHF65N59JpKZy1kWPhYEC99dcx1bK_6IqAFs8OzPeky1G8R5QeHsYhoWlhcs2q_RkpK_lOXairNY_hfUDZi2bGiN3BaKyg8IGfrDRdNnWjEluOa1AM6Fg/s320/P8170004.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Look how sweet she is now! My plan was still to sell her, but now I don't know if I can. Her short hair really becomes her and the color is amazing on her. So for now, she will stay here with me until further notice. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Lexie is happy for Pia to be out of that box and back on the shelf with her. Most days they are on my desk because I enjoy them so much. They make me smile and tug on my heartstrings.<br />

Changing the subject.....I hope everyone is okay after Hurricane Irma battered the southeast. We got our share of her visiting us and thankfully she had lost strength by the time she got here. Our yard is still a mess, but our power was restored pretty fast, compared to the last hurricane that came through here.<br />
<br />
I have been praying for all affected by Irma, as well as Harvey, and all the other disasters going on in the world. These are very difficult times for so many. Please join me in prayer, and if you are able, please help by donating or giving a helping hand to those in need.<br />

Sometimes we need to be a blessing to others, and in return, we too will be blessed.Dolly Blessingshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04069672118561454644noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2849709465049522731.post-71391699280580483082017-08-26T06:55:00.000-07:002017-08-26T06:55:31.901-07:00Greta's Closet<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I have had Greta for a few years, but bought her several years after she was first released. In all that time, I rarely saw any dresses that were available back when she was new. That all changed a couple of weeks ago.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Julie Old Crow, a Hitty doll artist, listed several small lots of them on ebay. I just happened to see them at the right time and bought several of the lots. After receiving them and Greta trying them on, we have weeded out a few, but are happy that she finally has some original dresses.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I wondered how I would store them and remembered that I had bought a small-ish dolly closet awhile back. It was too small for what I wanted it for, but I'm glad I kept it. It's a little big for Greta, but we are going to use it anyway. There's room at the bottom for some other things.</div>

<br />
I feel myself getting behind with blogging again, but life needs more of my attention than blogging these days. My granddaughter started junior high over a week ago. New school, new busing schedule, etc, etc. Lots of little details to handle, but joyfully done. She is a doll collector already, which pleases me very much.<br />
<br />
On the subject of dolls....do your dolls have dolls of their own? I think it's quite fun when dolls have their own special dolls and toys to play with. Right before Sybil got home, I bought one of Sue Sizemore's little cloth Hitty dolls. I have admired her dolls for quite some time and was happy to finally get one. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBlcXNd1fhy2xC5VRFqg7t7EN8cx7fFuFpeCpUfDT2n4oNBTcVfhZOcGZxiAUgLVHKyy0n3oqL0vMGJMqozOr3NN4iv8VByp9-wn_mA4MUtPAITW6Tp-lWChAK1swj4uViGB70pRSTTl4/s1600/P7270006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1072" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBlcXNd1fhy2xC5VRFqg7t7EN8cx7fFuFpeCpUfDT2n4oNBTcVfhZOcGZxiAUgLVHKyy0n3oqL0vMGJMqozOr3NN4iv8VByp9-wn_mA4MUtPAITW6Tp-lWChAK1swj4uViGB70pRSTTl4/s320/P7270006.JPG" width="214" /></a></div>
Isn't she lovely? This photo does not do her justice at all. She is beautifully painted. I decided to name her Hitty Sue, after her creator. She arrived two days before Sybil on July 22, 2017.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Apparently Sybil likes her a lot. Hitty Sue has become Sybil's own doll. Hitty Sue borrowed one of Hitty Jane's dresses to almost match Sybil's pretty blue dress. They look so sweet together. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyHgy7BB7fegwrq9rEp_d3vuhC2KFZ79lmy21SseV2Ols-gwZSG6myJw1rNk3EXGhHE0NaQMTqIVLWIY2EhsTHMvk3ujtVYk1_XDZc9JZtiGlQHHsqs9BllTPVZfvMPSfLkYWxXXPRpJA/s1600/P7280015.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1143" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyHgy7BB7fegwrq9rEp_d3vuhC2KFZ79lmy21SseV2Ols-gwZSG6myJw1rNk3EXGhHE0NaQMTqIVLWIY2EhsTHMvk3ujtVYk1_XDZc9JZtiGlQHHsqs9BllTPVZfvMPSfLkYWxXXPRpJA/s320/P7280015.JPG" width="228" /></a></div>
Now Charlotte could not be left out. I had just the perfect doll for her as well. An 8 inch wooden Polly Shorrock doll I made from a kit awhile back. I named her Tess. Charlotte is pleased that Tess is wearing red. Tess has lived here since December 4, 2015 and was an early Christmas present from my hubby that year.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjB9bLy7AOkwm-3dPySZp2dnXxHVT84WXsWtMrRm4bbR5fic6_u70kaVaUFmDhCQfMoZmoCmpzyW-lXLGhoWEKs6kxu38PLc8I5rzoqTyhA6LtmODOHCBIHcq8Rh2NPN8NsMLpqGmPcjeY/s1600/008.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1518" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjB9bLy7AOkwm-3dPySZp2dnXxHVT84WXsWtMrRm4bbR5fic6_u70kaVaUFmDhCQfMoZmoCmpzyW-lXLGhoWEKs6kxu38PLc8I5rzoqTyhA6LtmODOHCBIHcq8Rh2NPN8NsMLpqGmPcjeY/s320/008.JPG" width="303" /></a></div>
Most recently two more little ones have come to live here. Awhile back, one of my best dolly friends surprised me with a little cloth doll made by Jane Davies. Soon after, I found another one and bought it. My granddaughter loves these dolls very much, so I found another one just for her. Last week, I spied two more one ebay and the price was too good to pass up. So now we have a small group of these sweet dolls. <br />

I re-dressed the first two. Their original outfits are nice, but the sleeves are too long, which bothers me. The one in the middle is a limited edition and she is wearing her original clothes and shoes. Her dress & coat fit her much better than the other's. We are waiting for two new dresses for the two on each end. They are about six inches tall, have mohair wigs, and are jointed at the neck, shoulders and hips. Left to Right, Millie, Mouse, Julia, Maddie and Livie. Mouse is the one my friend sent to me.<br />
<br />
So that's about it in my dolly world for now. What's going on in your neck of the woods?<br />
<br />
I hope to be back soon, as time permits. Be blessed everybody! <br />

Sybil</div>
In my last blog post, I told you about having a custom Izannah Walker Inspired doll made by one of my favorite doll artists. This is Sybil, made for me by the very talented Jan Conwell. She arrived home a little over a week ago, on July 24, 2017. I am so pleased to have her. She is better than I ever imagined!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

She is 18 inches tall and petite. She is very demure and has such a sweet face and an "almost smile." Her hands are so beautifully done and she has been given a light aged look, that I love. Her eyes are a gorgeous blue. Her creator even put a little gold ring on her finger as a surprise. <br />

Sybil has very pretty underpinnings with antique lace and a seasonal wardrobe and bonnet. The dresses were something I very much wanted. Changing my doll's outfits is one of my favorite things. I am borrowing Jan's photo to show her wardrobe. I hope you don't mind, Jan. I didn't even think to take a photo of her dresses myself. <br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I was allowed to choose the colors, and whether the sleeves were long or short. Jan and Sybil picked out the fabrics. I think they did a fine job and each dress turned out beautifully. Her bonnet goes well with all four dresses. </div>

Doesn't she have such a serene, satisfied look about her? I adore this girl! She has gotten so many compliments from others who have seen her.</div>

She also brought along with her, a sweet kitty. It's made of the same pretty fabric as her blue dress. She "disappears" when she sits in Sybil's lap.<br />

Sybil loves to read. As a retired preschool teacher, this makes me happy. I will no doubt find Sybil and Charlotte playing school with some of the other dolls who live here.<br />

Her beautiful hands are so graceful. I can't even imagine how difficult it must be to sculpt hands like this from cloth. But then, I look at her face and I'm reminded that Jan Conwell is a master artisan. <br />

I couldn't end this post without showing how well Sybil & Charlotte are getting along. They have become instant best friends. I love to see them sharing toys.<br />
<br />
These are such sweet dolly blessings! Thank you again Jan, for making my dream doll and her beautiful wardrobe.<br />
<br />
Until next time, be blessed!<br />

This blog post is from May 2014. I looked for it and couldn't find it, so it must have gotten deleted by mistake. I want to save this, so here I am writing about it again.<br />
<br />
This is Greta. She started life as a Robert Raikes Hope doll. I really liked everything about her, except the cheap, straw-like wig she came with. So I took it off and decided to make her one.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKQOlrsFdRYa6cU6WWgAjbENl9o4JEU6OSWweQT7DI2Rdgr66glh18oHhipaQ_dOs8FTAXI8r9mfdPszdUDYdxJoxOGYJerXg-QRLhHfXNMs4kh5SaGKqQbdScYjVtSsJSdcMNHxNDBHU/s1600/Raikes+doll+003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1350" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKQOlrsFdRYa6cU6WWgAjbENl9o4JEU6OSWweQT7DI2Rdgr66glh18oHhipaQ_dOs8FTAXI8r9mfdPszdUDYdxJoxOGYJerXg-QRLhHfXNMs4kh5SaGKqQbdScYjVtSsJSdcMNHxNDBHU/s320/Raikes+doll+003.JPG" width="269" /></a></div>
I got out my paper clay. I sanded her head a little to make sure whatever I put on it would stick. I'm not very skilled at sculpting, but felt I had nothing to lose in trying. After several attempts, I finally settled on a very simple style I could live with.<br />
<br />

It looked messy, but after it dried overnight, I gently sanded down all the little burrs sticking up everywhere. I was so excited to paint her new hair! <br />

I mixed up a light red color and painted one coat and let it dry. Then I antiqued it by wiping on brown oxide paint and quickly wiping it back off. I left just enough to fill in all the little details of my "sculpting." I love how doing this seems to make things "come to life."<br />

I have to admit, I was so happy that it turned out so well. It's not perfect by far, but I love it. She got new hair and a new name. So long Hope. Now meet Greta!</div>

I really wanted to do this again someday and got my chance with a Madame Alexander 95th Anniversary Raggedy Ann Woodkin doll. I do believe I blogged about this too. It was much more difficult, but so happy that I did it. Here's a quick photo so you can see how she turned out. She also got a new name.....Woody Ann. </div>

Being busy is part of the reason, but also because I have bought several dolls that I was not satisfied after getting them. Not really sure why, but they have come and already gone. <br />
<br />
The one exception to this parade of comings and goings is Lexie. She is a Wichtel doll, pronounced "Wish-Tell" made by Schildkrot for German artist Rosemarie Muller. Rosemarie Muller also makes handmade dolls, which are even more beautiful and much more expensive. I was so smitten that I bought three of these dolls, including one of Rosemarie's handmade dolls. All are wonderful, but it was too many, too fast. Lexie is the only one I have kept. The Wichtel dolls have many different face sculpts. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Lexie started out as "Rosi" which is the Mio sculpt. Above is how she looked brand new out of the box. As cute as she was, I planned to change her when she got here. I changed her wig and re-positioned her eyes to face forward. She turned out exactly like I wanted.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhn2heIhALhij4L1Hay8GlVyNC6ULbuCdHsmthPTq-rZS_n7lTOuADLapT0WnjaKYdGgXcYtlKfN7ZF8fYxCaJbHIp6uvSWHCRcbEzRrL5LgWUFsaTPyrdQELkyHmL0j0ww3zY01TtJY70/s1600/P4110008.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhn2heIhALhij4L1Hay8GlVyNC6ULbuCdHsmthPTq-rZS_n7lTOuADLapT0WnjaKYdGgXcYtlKfN7ZF8fYxCaJbHIp6uvSWHCRcbEzRrL5LgWUFsaTPyrdQELkyHmL0j0ww3zY01TtJY70/s320/P4110008.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This is Lexie now. I love the changes. She was very cute before, but now she is amazing. I'm so glad I took a chance and made her into what I wanted her to be. She is such a fun doll.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And so much fun to find cute outfits for. A friend and I started a face book group for them and are having a lot of fun with other collectors. We have over one hundred members already and some of them are seamstresses who make wonderful clothes for them. Let's just say that Lexie has a lot of outfits and shoes already! </div>

The months leading up to Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Day are always very busy. Our family enjoyed all the holidays and I hope you all did as well.<br />
<br />
I did add some dolls to my collection. I have always had a special place in my heart for Raggedy Ann. The first doll I remember having was a Raggedy Ann. Several have come here to live. All three are handmade one-of-a-kind dolls. I will spare you all the details, and leave you with a cute photo of them. This photo does not include Woody Ann, my custom wooden Raggedy. She has a post devoted to her already.<br />
